The city of Glendale is located in Maricopa County in the state of Arizona. With a population of 226,721 people, the city was once known as a desolate desert until a certain William John Murphy arrived to build the 40-mile long Arizona Canal for the Arizona Canal Company. This canal was designed to start from Granite Reef and finish in New River. In 1885, Murphy completed the canal and this brought water at last to the desert area. Later, Murphy established Glendale and found a way to attract more settlers by creating better access from Phoenix to Glendale.

Today, the city is home to a diverse group of people and to numerous attractions. Some of the best attractions in the city are the Adobe Mountain Desert Park, the historic Manistee and Sahuaro Ranch, the Deer Valley Rock Art Center, the State Farm Stadium and the Gila River Arena. The Adobe Mountain Desert Park is a particularly attractive tourist spot because it features some of the old railroad trains and other curios that showcased Glendale’s rich history and the Industrial era’s mighty trains that once dominated the railroads of America.

Glendale is also called the “Arizona’s Antique Capital” because of the many historical objects and buildings that remain in the city until this very day. It is also home to the popular Arrowhead Towne Center Mall and the Midwestern University, which is metropolitan Phoenix’s first medical school. The city is also home to numerous other historical buildings.
